O'Connor Day 2012 - August 25th

An O'Connor Day Planning meeting has been scheduled for Monday, February 6, 2012 at 7 p.m. in the O'Connor Community Centre - 330 Highway 595.

This year’s event unfortunately will not include the children's carnival and several of our great volunteers will not be available to help out.

WE NEED TO START PLANNING EARLY AND WE WILL NEED YOUR HELP!!

Please spread the word that we are looking for input and early involvement to make this year event a success.  There is a possibility of the formation of committees, perhaps you might be interested in sitting on one! In order to continue with this wonderful day we need more support from our residents, this year more than any other.

If you are free on Monday, February 6, 2012 at 7 p.m.  please come out to see what is happening and bring along your ideas.

Everyone is welcome, resident or not!!  Hope to see you there.

Driver Training
The O’Connor Volunteer Fire Department is currently looking at training some of our members to upgrade their current “GZ” class driver’s licence to a “DZ” licence so that they can drive the fire trucks.  To help our volunteer members gain some experience in their driving, the Township of O’Connor is looking at possibly hiring qualified members of the community to ride with these members to allow them to gain experience before writing their test.

Council is looking for Expressions of Interest from those who are competent and willing to ride in seat with our volunteer members.  The person should have at least 10 years of driving experience with a “DZ” licence and a clean driver’s abstract.  The driving would require flexible hours and a Township of O’Connor insured vehicle will be supplied.

Council would like any interested persons to submit to the Township office, an hourly rate for this service, along with information on any courses they may have taken.  Council will review these expressions of interest at their March 12, 2012 Council meeting.

The deadline for submissions is Wednesday, March 7th at 5:00 p.m.

If successful, a driver’s abstract would be required prior to acceptance.
Council are currently exploring our options for driver training and may or may not use this form of training for the drivers.
