Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday: 9:00 a.m. to noon and 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. Fridays 9:00 a.m. to noon. 
PLEASE NOTE: The office will be closed on Tuesday, May 6 and Wednesday, May 7 to allow staff to attend training.

Summer Hours - Tuesdays 6 to 9 p.m. and Saturdays 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. - April 1 to August 31  
 Winter Hours - Tuesday 3 to 6 p.m. and Saturdays 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. - September 1 to March 31 
 
PLEASE note that new permits have been issued and you must bring them with you to the site to be allowed to dump.

Road Closure
Main Street will be closed between Prouty Road and Lysak Road until further notice.
 
Are you having billing issues with HYDRO ONE?
MPP Bill Mauro is reaching out to offer assistance with Hydro One billing issues.  Hydro One has acknowledged these billing issues and has focused resources on resolving them.  If you have any billing concerns and you would like MPP Mauro's office assistance in resolving them please email him at bmauro.mpp.co@liberal.ola.org. In the email please provide your account number, name of account holder(s), address, contact number during the day, details about your concerns.
 
 
FOOD DRIVE
The O'Connor Volunteer Fire Department and First Response Team  did a Food Drive on Saturday, April 12, 2014 for the Rural Cupboard Food Bank.  If you weren't home and would still like to make a donation, it may still be dropped off at the municipal office.

O'Connor Day 2014 Planning Meeting
An O'Connor Day Planning Meeting was held on Tuesday, March 25, 2014.  A second meeting has been scheduled for Monday, June 2, 2014 at 7 p.m. in the O'Connor Council Chambers. Volunteers are needed to ensure it goes forward.  Please contact the office if you would be interested or would like more information.
 
We are looking for someone to step forward to run the Horseshoe Tournament during O'Connor Day this year. If anyone is interested please contact the Township office at 476-1451.  Thank you
    
Township of O'Connor 2014 calendars are still available and now on SALE - $5.00
Amy Boucher has created, with photos from the Township of O'Connor, a 2014 calendar.  The O'Connor Community Club has sponsored her efforts and will be selling them as a fundraiser for the O'Connor Community Centre renovations.  To pickup a $5 calendar please contact the Township office or any Community Club member.

  The Township of O'Connor retained GENIVAR to assist with the development of a comprehensive asset management plan that the Township can utilize as a tool to assist with decisions regarding the building, operating, maintaining, renewing, replacing, disposing and funding of their bridges, roads, culverts, buildings, helipad, road maintenance and recycling equipment, and vehicles

Township received $305,195.00 for replacement of Broome Road Bridge
In December of 2012 the Provincial Government announce the Municipal Infrastructure Investment Initiative’s (MIII) second round of funding.  The funding  will providing nearly $90 million to help municipalities address critical infrastructure needs.  Over the next three years a total of eighty-nine applicants will receive up to $2 million each and most of the funding will be received by  communities with populations under 20,000. 

The Township of O’Connor is very pleased to announce that it is one of the  eighty-nine applicants that was successful and will be receiving $305,195.00 to replace the bridge on Broome Road over Cedar Creek.  This amount represents 90% of the total cost of the bridge replacement.  Preliminary work will start this year with the actual bridge replacement to take place in 2014.

Municipal Property Assessment Corporation (MPAC)
Between November 1 and 15, 2013 MPAC will begin delivering Property Assessment Notices to property taxpayers across the province. You may receive a notice if there has been a change in property ownership or legal description, a change to the property's assessment resulting from a Request for Reconsideration or Assessment Review Board decision, a property value increase or decrease reflecting a change to the property, for example, a new structure, addition, or removal or demolition of an old structure; or a change in the classification or tax liability of a property.  If you have any questions with regard to your notice you can go to the MPAC website by clicking here, or contacting the MPAC Customer Contact Centre at 1-866-296-6722 or the local representative at 622-1400.  You may also contact the Township office for assistance.
 
Property owners are encouraged to visit www.aboutmyproperty.ca to confirm their property details and compare their property with others in their neighbourhood. Login information is included with every Notice mailed.
 
O'Connor Community Centre Renovations
The O'Connor Community Centre will be receiving some new and exciting changes.  To start, the basement kitchen has been revitalized with the installation of a new kitchen exhaust hood and fan, a wet chemical system for fire suppression, a direct fired make-up air system, a new stove, deepfryer and lighting. The Centre has also received a new coat of paint to freshen it up, a dishwasher has been installed in the upstairs kitchen and some new appliances and cupboards have been purchased. Thank you to the Ontario Trillium Foundation and the Community Infrastructure Improvement Fund (CIIF) for their contribution towards these renovations. Construction has begun.
 

 
The Township of O'Connor was also successful in its application to Enabling Accessibility Fund - Small Project Component from the Ministry of Human Resources and Skills Development Canada (HRSDC) for the Community Centre Accessibility Project.  Construction for the accessibility lift is almost complete and we are waiting for the final approval from TSSA before we can use it.
 
Thank you to all who have also attended or supported the recent Community Centre renovations fundraising events hosted by the O'Connor Community Club and Fire Department. Thank you also to the O'Connor Women's Institute and Thunder Bay Ventures for their donations. Please watch for more fundraising events coming soon.
