RENTAL ARREARS FUND

Through the COVID-19 pandemic, TBDSSAB has been able to assist many households and landlords with a new Rental Arrears Fund, aimed at reducing/eliminating arrears to help keep individuals and families housed.

If you or anyone you are aware of is in need of assistance, or landlords who are addressing arrears issues, please share the Social Assistance Relief Rental Arrears Fund application.  Applications can be submitted to the local TBDSSAB office in Kakabeka Falls or in Thunder Bay, or emailed back through our general contact email at intake@tbdssab.ca

HOUSING AND HOMELESSNESS PLAN

The District of Thunder Bay Social Services Administration Board (TBDSSAB) recognizes the increase in needs and supports required for the homeless and those at risk of becoming homeless as a result of the COVID-19 impact.

The purpose of the Community Homelessness Prevention Initiative (CHPI) is to support the province’s goal to end chronic homelessness by 2025, and to establish creative and innovative approaches to homelessness that align with The District of Thunder Bay Social Services Administration Board’s Housing and Homelessness plan.

The CHPI Emergency Pandemic Fund aims to provide financial support to organizations that are experiencing increased or new costs in supporting the homeless or preventing homelessness due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Blessing Box Program

The Blessing Box program operates out of various donated spaces and runs solely on the help of businesses and volunteers. This program is organized through Giant Hearts based in Thunder Bay. Boxes are filled with non-perishable items and other household staples. The boxes are placed in discreet areas of public buildings to ensure the safety and privacy of those people in need of help. Everyone is welcome to donate supplies and take items as needed. The O’Connor Blessing Box can be found outside of the O’Connor Community Centre at 330 Highway 595.
