Heavy rain fall over night has caused most water courses in the Township to rise significantly.  Harstone Road is now closed between Smith Road and Luckens Road as water has washed out the road in several locations.  Blaikie Road remains closed and water has now crossed the road in a second location, which  has resulted in the closure of Diana Road.  The Village of Hymers is experiencing flooding as well.  High water is also affecting several other roads in the Township and our road crew is doing their best to address the issues.  Please drive with caution.  Please see Flood Warning below for more information.

LRCA FLOOD WARNING_May 12, 2022 11:00 a.m.

May 11, 2022 at 10:00 a.m.

Blaikie Road will remain closed due to washouts, as the water continues to rise along the Whitefish River, with all the snow melt still coming .  The Whitefish River, on the Harstone Road, is currently at his limit and will most likely  go over the road sometime during the day today.  Cedar Creek is also at its peak and may cause flooding.  There is still a lot of snow in the bush and with the warm temperatures this week, spring melt and the potential thunderstorm predicted, flooding will occur in several locations.  Please always watch for water and do not drive through water that is flowing across a roadway.

LRCA May 11, 2022 Flood Outlook

May 10, 2022 at 8:15 p.m.

Blaikie Road is once again  closed due to water over the road from the Whitefish River. Please find an alternate route.

May 9, 2022 UPDATE

Blaikie Road has been reopened this afternoon.  Please continue to drive with caution and be aware that the water level in the Whitefish River may continue to fluctuate with the warm temperatures this week and the amount of snow still located in the bush.

May 7, 2022

Due to the warm weather and the significant snow melt, the water flowing in the Whitefish River is causing road closures in the Township of O’Connor.  The river is spilling over its banks and Blaikie Road is currently closed  once again after receding  earlier this morning.  The Harstone Road is also  being watched and may be closed at anytime.  Please avoid these areas and always be aware of the risk.  Please do not drive through water that is flowing across a roadway.
